United States Passes 100,000 Coronavirus Cases, Doubling in 3 Days
On March 24th, the United States passed 50,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19. Today, just 3 days later, that number is over twice as high.
The United States became the first nation to surpass 100,000 cases of coronavirus today, with a current total of 101,159 as of 6:20pm ET.
With 592,714 global cases right now, this means that 17.1% of the world’s coronavirus cases exist in the United States. The nation represents just 4.2% of the world’s population.
The pandemic shows no signs of slowing down in the US. The daily rate of new cases has increased each of the past 3 days, as many states around the nation have not yet implemented stay-at-home orders.
Today also marks a new high for total US COVID-19 deaths in a day, as 268 Americans have lost their lives to the disease today.
