Infant Dies of COVID-19 in Illinois
The coronavirus pandemic has sadly claimed the life of an infant in Illinois. While many believe the disease is not a threat to the younger citizens of this world, this reminds us that no age is completely immune to the risks of coronavirus.
This is the first known recorded death of someone this young from COVID-19.
The Illinois Department of Health Director Ngozi Ezike has issued the following statement:
“There has never before been a death associated with COVID-19 in an infant. A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of death. We must do everything we can to prevent the spread of this deadly virus. If not to protect ourselves, but to protect those around us.”
The US state of Illinois now has 3,491 known cases of coronavirus, with 13 fatalities.
